Generally speaking, as long as you have graduated from a regular college or university in Canada with a major of two years or more, you can apply for a three-year work visa. If you have a one-year major, you can also get the corresponding work visa.
Application materials
- Work permit application form IMM 1295.
- Family member information from IMM 5707.
- Education Employment Details Form.
- My valid passport. The passport must contain at least one blank page except the last page and must be valid for at least six months before travel.
- Two photos. Photos must comply with the photo requirements details. Include the person’s name and date of birth after each photo.
- Copy of my Chinese ID card (photo page).
- Notarized copy of proof of no criminal record. If you have lived in a country or region for 6 consecutive months or more after reaching the age of 18, you must obtain a police certificate of no criminal record from that country or region.
- (Not required for an open work permit) A copy of the employment contract signed by the applicant and the Canadian employer, or an original job offer letter detailing future job responsibilities and duration of employment.
- A labor market impact assessment LMIA provided by the Canadian Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, or a document stating the circumstances under which the LMIA can be exempted, or a document stating that this occupation allows LMIA and work permit application at the same time.
- If the LMIA provided by the Canadian Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development states that membership of a professional society in Canada is required, please provide proof of this qualification.
- Copies of the applicant’s employment letters, and proof of work experience (if applicable).
- Original copies of all occupational and professional certificates relevant to employment in Canada (if applicable).
- If you work in Quebec, please submit a valid Quebec Acceptance Letter (CAQ), but you can be exempted from CAQ when applying for an open work permit.
