AIPP Atlantic Immigration Pilot Project
Applicants need:
- Must hold a job offer from a new provincial employer. The job must be full-time and have a stable and continuous salary.
- The job position meets the following requirements:
- Highly skilled category: The position must belong to NOC category 0, A or B, and may not be in the same field as the previous job;
- Secondary skills category and overseas study graduate category: The position must belong to NOC category 0, A, B or C, and it does not need to be in the same field as the previous job.
Employers need to meet the following conditions:
- To become a Designated Employer, meet the following requirements:
- The employer’s business is in good operating condition, and the employer has continued and actively operated the current business in the Atlantic region for at least 2 years.
- Ability to provide labor demand information;
- Commit to working with settlement service providers to help applicants settle and stay;
- To become a recognized employer, meet the following requirements:
- Demonstrate that recruitment efforts have been unable to recruit local labor to fill the vacancies;
- Recruit foreign workers, provide valid, full-time, non-seasonal job offers, and sign jointly with the foreign workers;
- Provide a personalized settlement plan, co-signed with the foreign worker.
NSNP Shortage Occupation EE Category – Category A
Applicants need:
- Register EE in IRCC system;
- NSNP score of at least 67 points;
- Have a valid job offer from a new province employer (from one employer, continuous paid full-time (at least 30 hours per week, working for at least one year after obtaining the permanent residence visa, NOC category 0, A, B), the offer must be in To be valid in EE and to earn bonus points, employers are generally required to obtain an LMIA from ESDC, but exemptions are available in certain circumstances.
Employers need to meet the following conditions:
- The business must be a permanent establishment in the new province, and the Immigration Department accepts applications from employers with permanent establishments in the public sector and non-profit organizations. Non-profit organizations must be registered under the Societies Act and demonstrate financial capabilities and stability sufficient to support the position in the long term;
- The employer’s business must have been actively operating in Nova Scotia for at least two years;
- The employer is deemed to be in good standing by the Provincial Occupational Health and Safety and Labor Bureau and does not violate the Immigration, Refugee and Protection Act (IRPA) or the Immigration, Refugee and Protection Regulations (IRPR); if the applicant’s occupation is NOC Category B, the employer may need to provide a new provincial employer registration certificate with new provincial labor standards;
NSNP shortage occupation EE categories Category A and Category B both need to register for EE first and meet the NSNP score requirement of 67 points. The biggest difference between the two is that Category A requires employer support.
NSNP Skilled Worker Category
Applicants need:
- Applicants within Canada must provide proof of legal status as a temporary worker or tourist, while applicants from outside Canada must provide proof of legal status as a temporary worker or tourist;
- The applicant’s age is 21-55 years old when the Immigration Bureau receives the application;
- Have a full-time, long-term job offer from a New Province employer. The job category is preferably NOC 0, A or B. The salary of the job must meet the job standards and salary levels of New Province, and prove that it is indeed impossible to recruit Canadian citizens or permanent residents. To fill the vacancy, the position does not violate any existing bargaining agreement, labor contract/standards and does not involve any labor dispute;
- One year (1560 hours) of relevant work experience in the past 5 years (volunteer work and unpaid internships do not count), semi-skilled and low-skilled workers must have had 6 months of work experience for the employer;
- Skilled workers in NOC 0, A, and B occupations are required to have an English or French proficiency level of CLB 5. Those whose first language is English or French do not need to take a language test. Those who are engaged in occupations in NOC C and D categories are semi-skilled or low-level. Skilled workers need CLB 4 in English or French, although test scores may be provided even if English or French is the first language.
NSNP doctor category
Applicants need:
- Legal status in country of residence:
- If the applicant currently resides in Canada, proof of legal status as a temporary worker or visitor must be provided;
- If the applicant currently lives outside of Canada, he or she must provide proof of legal identity in the country of residence;
- Job offer: A job opportunity with written approval from the Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) or Izaak Walton Killam Health Center (IWK) as a general practitioner and family physician (NOC 3112) or a specialist (NOC 3111). Written approval must be on official NSHA or IWK letterhead; indicate eligibility for licensure by the NSHA College of Physicians and Surgeons; and indicate the applicant’s eligibility to apply for privileges and credentials from NSHA and the IWK.
- Be able to provide copies of education and medical training certificates required for ECA academic certification or NS license;
- Possess the English or French proficiency required to perform the job required by the NSHA or IWK job offer.
